What You'll Actually Pay — and Why

Most Level 2 installs in our service area fall between $900 and $1,400. Here's what separates those two numbers — and what's always included.

Labor Only
You Already Have the Charger
$900 – $1,100
You've purchased your charger, your panel has available capacity, and the install location is straightforward. We handle mounting, wiring, circuit connection, and testing.
All-In Install
The Complete Package
$1,100 – $1,400
Includes charger installation, dedicated 240V breaker, all wiring and conduit, mounting hardware, full circuit test, and permit coordination where required. One call, one visit, done.
Panel Upgrade
Older Home, 100A Panel
$2,500 – $4,500+
Homes with 60A or 100A panels — common in older Philadelphia rowhouses and South Jersey suburbs — may need a service upgrade before installation. We assess this first and always quote before starting.

What we quote is what you pay. Pricing is affected by panel capacity, wiring distance, and whether outdoor weatherproofing is needed — we explain each factor upfront. PA homeowners: there is currently no PECO residential EV charger installation rebate. NJ homeowners served by PSE&G may qualify for a make-ready incentive of $50–$1,500 depending on eligibility and project scope. The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit may also apply: up to 30% of qualifying costs (up to $1,000 residential), for qualifying installations placed in service by June 30, 2026, subject to census tract eligibility and your individual tax situation. Incentives and tax credits are subject to program availability and customer eligibility — we do not guarantee approval. Ask us for guidance, and confirm with a tax advisor.

How It Works for Your Home

EV Charger Installation Options

Every home is different. Here's how we approach residential installs — and what each path includes.

Option 1

Standard Installation

Designed for typical residential homes with adequate panel capacity and a straightforward install location. Efficient scheduling, clean work, and a properly installed Level 2 charger — ready to use the same day.

  • Dedicated 240V circuit installation
  • Charger mounting and wiring
  • Full circuit test before we leave
  • Permit requirements vary by township and project scope
Best for: newer homes with available panel capacity and an interior install location.
Know Before You Call

Some Homes Require a Panel Upgrade

Many homes built before 2000 have 100-amp electrical panels which may not support Level 2 EV chargers. If your panel is full or underpowered, a licensed electrician may recommend upgrading to a 200-amp service panel.

This is a common and straightforward upgrade — our electricians handle the permit, utility coordination, and inspection from start to finish.

💡 Typical panel upgrades range from $2,500 – $6,000 depending on the home, utility provider, and local permit requirements.

What to Expect

How Long Does Installation Take?

Most homeowners are back to normal within a single afternoon. Here's what the timeline looks like.

Standard Level 2 Install
2 – 4 Hours
Panel has available capacity, charger location is near the breaker box. Most residential jobs are done in a single visit.
🔧
Extended Wiring Run
4 – 6 Hours
Conduit run through walls, attic, or garage — or charger location is farther from the panel. Still typically same-day.
🏠
Panel Upgrade Required
1 – 2 Days
Includes upgrading from 100A to 200A service. Utility coordination and permit inspection may require a follow-up visit.
🏢
Commercial / Fleet Install
1 – 3 Days
Multi-port installs, 3-phase service, or load management systems. Schedule a scoping call for a detailed timeline.
Is This Right For You?

This Service Is Ideal For

We specialize in residential and light commercial EV charger installations across PA and NJ. Here's who we serve best.

EV owners installing Level 2 home chargers — stop relying on slow Level 1 charging and wake up to a full battery every morning.
Homes with garage or driveway parking — dedicated outdoor or covered parking makes installation straightforward and cost-effective.
Homes with accessible electrical panels — we work with 100A and 200A panels, including upgrades when required.
Homeowners planning installation within 30 days — our network has availability now. We match you with a licensed electrician fast.
Level 1 vs Level 2

Why Not Just Use a Standard Outlet?

A standard 120V outlet will charge your EV — just not in any practical way. Here's the real difference.

🔌
Standard 120V Outlet
3–5 Miles / Hr
A 200-mile battery takes 40+ hours to fully charge. For daily drivers, this simply isn't enough overnight.
VS
Level 2 Charger (240V)
20–30 Miles / Hr
Charges 6–10× faster. A full charge overnight, every night — no range anxiety, no planning around charging.

From the Field

Common Install Scenarios Across PA & South Jersey

Every home is different. Here are the install situations we see most often across our service area — and how we approach each one.

🏙️
Philadelphia Rowhome: Panel & Routing

Many Philly rowhomes have electrical panels in the basement and limited options for routing to street-level parking or a converted garage. We assess available breaker space, check the routing path, and determine whether conduit needs to run along the exterior wall or through the utility area before we quote anything.

Common in: Philadelphia County — Center City, South Philly, Fishtown, Kensington
May require: Panel capacity check; exterior conduit route; weatherproof mount
🏠
South Jersey Garage Install

The most common install type across Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties: panel in the utility room or basement, charger on the garage wall. When the routing is direct and panel capacity is available, most of these jobs complete in a single visit with a clean result.

Common in: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester counties
Typical scope: Dedicated 50A circuit, 10–30 ft run, garage wall mount
🔌
Detached Garage: Extended Wiring Run

Homes with detached garages require wiring to travel from the main panel — either overhead, through conduit on the exterior wall, or underground. Underground conduit adds cost and a few hours to the job but is often the cleanest, most durable solution long-term. We scope this at the site visit.

Common in: Bucks County, Chester County, rural Montgomery County
May require: Underground conduit or overhead aerial run; additional permit documentation
100A Panel: Upgrade Before Charger

Homes with a 100-amp panel — or a 200A panel with no available breaker slots — need an upgrade or circuit reconfiguration before a Level 2 charger can be installed safely. We identify this during the free site assessment. Where it makes sense, we bundle the panel upgrade and charger install into a single coordinated job.

Common in: Delaware County, Philadelphia County, older housing throughout the region
Typical scope: 200A service upgrade, then Level 2 charger installation
🔋
Tesla Wall Connector Install

The Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connector is the most-requested charger brand in our service area. When the panel and routing line up, it's one of the cleanest installations we do. We configure it through the Tesla app, verify vehicle pairing, and confirm the charge rate before we leave. All current Tesla models supported.

Common in: Chester, Montgomery counties — high Tesla ownership areas
Note: Wall Connector supplied or customer-provided
🌧️
Outdoor & Driveway-Side Charger

Not every home has garage parking. For driveway-adjacent or exterior wall installs — common in South Jersey townhomes and some PA townships — we use weatherproof-rated hardware, outdoor-grade conduit, and mount the charger in a protected location that holds up year-round.

Common in: South Jersey, Montgomery County townhomes and homes without attached garages
Requires: NEMA-rated enclosure; exterior-grade conduit and wiring

Why Choose Us

Built Local. Earning It the Right Way.

We're not a national franchise with a call center. We're a locally focused operation — and that means every install, every permit, every customer actually matters to us.

📜

Licensed & Insured, Every Time

Every electrician we work with carries a current PA or NJ electrical license and full general liability insurance. We don't send handymen — every installer in our network meets strict licensing, insurance, and experience requirements.

💵

Quoted Before We Start, Period

You'll receive a firm written quote before any work begins. What we quote is what you pay — no surprise line items, no "we noticed something extra while we were there." Scope changes are discussed with you first.

📋

Permits Handled, Not Optional

We pull every permit and schedule inspections where required. An unpermitted EV charger can void your homeowner's insurance and create complications when you sell. We won't let you walk into that problem.

2-Hour Response (Business Hours), Local People

When you submit a quote request during business hours, you hear back within 2 hours — from a person, not an automated sequence. No call centers. No offshore routing. Local team, local knowledge.

Your Review Matters More to Us

We're building this reputation from job one. That means we have more motivation than any established company to make sure you're genuinely happy. We don't have the luxury of a bad job — and honestly, we wouldn't want it.

🛡️

1-Year Workmanship Warranty

Every installation comes with a 1-year written workmanship warranty. If something fails due to our work, we return and fix it at no charge. You get this in writing before the job starts — not after.

💬

A note from our founder: "I know how this industry works. Most platforms collect your info and don't care what happens next. I'm building Expert EV Installers because homeowners in this area deserve a proper install — permitted, rebated, and done right by someone accountable. Every contractor in our network is held to the same high standard. We're newer than the big names, and that's exactly why we're more motivated." — Expert EV Installers, Philadelphia PA

Available incentives depend on where you live and your utility provider. Programs change frequently — we walk you through what's currently active for your specific location so you don't miss anything you may be eligible for.

PA

Pennsylvania Homeowners (PECO Service Area)

There is currently no PECO residential EV charger installation rebate. PA homeowners may still qualify for the federal EV charger tax credit — see below. PECO does offer a separate $50 EV driver reporting credit for customers who notify PECO they purchased an EV.

Up to
$1,500

New Jersey Homeowners (PSE&G Make-Ready)

PSE&G residential customers in Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties may qualify for a make-ready incentive of $50–$1,500 per charger toward wiring, permits, and panel upgrade costs. Eligibility and amount depend on the project scope. Note: PSE&G's off-peak charging credit program is being phased out (no new applicants as of January 13, 2026) — this does not affect the make-ready incentive.

30%

Federal Tax Credit (PA & NJ)

The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (IRS Form 8911) may cover up to 30% of qualifying costs (up to $1,000) for eligible home charger installations placed in service by June 30, 2026. Eligibility depends on whether your property is in a qualifying census tract and your individual tax situation — confirm with a tax advisor. We provide itemized documentation to support your filing.

Manufacturer Credits

We track active installation offers from Tesla, Ford, GM, and Rivian to ensure you aren't leaving money on the table at the time of purchase.

0%

As a licensed contractor, we ensure your installation qualifies as a "Capital Improvement," meaning you pay $0 in sales tax on the labor for your project.

What to Expect On Install Day

No surprises. Here's exactly what happens when our electrician shows up at your home.

01

On-time arrival with all materials

Your electrician arrives within the scheduled window with all required tools, materials, and the charger (if we supplied it). No "I need to go get a part" situations.

02

Walk-through before any work starts

They'll walk you through the plan — where wires run, where the charger mounts, and exactly what the permit covers. You sign off before a single screw is turned.

03

Clean, professional installation

Wires are routed neatly — not draped across the wall. Conduit is straight. The charger is level. Your garage is cleaner when we leave than when we arrived.

04

Live demonstration before we leave

Before we pack up, we plug in your EV, confirm the charger communicates with your car's app, and walk you through any settings. You leave knowing exactly how to use it.

05

Inspection is scheduled, not skipped

We schedule the electrical inspection with your township before we leave. You don't have to chase anyone down. When it passes, we send you the paperwork.

06

Rebate guidance before we close

Before we wrap up, we walk you through the utility and federal incentive programs you may qualify for, explain what documentation you'll need, and point you to how to apply. Rebate timelines vary by program.

Questions Answered

Frequently Asked

Real answers to the questions homeowners in PA and NJ ask us most before booking.

Most Level 2 charger installations in the Philadelphia metro area — including Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, and Delaware counties — run between $900 and $1,400. Labor-only jobs where you already own the charger and your panel has capacity tend to come in closer to $900. Homes needing a dedicated breaker, longer wiring runs, or outdoor weatherproofing typically land in the $1,100–$1,400 range. We provide a firm written quote before any work begins — no surprises.
In most PA and NJ municipalities, yes — a permit is required for any new 240V dedicated circuit, which is standard for Level 2 charger installation. Skipping it is risky: an unpermitted installation can void your homeowner's insurance and create problems when you sell. We check the specific requirements for your municipality, pull the permit when needed, and schedule any required inspections. It's part of our process, not a billable add-on.
Pennsylvania homeowners currently do not have a PECO residential EV charger installation rebate. PECO does offer a separate $50 EV driver rebate for customers who report purchasing an EV, but this is not an installation incentive. For PA homeowners, the primary incentive to be aware of is the federal EV charger tax credit — see the question below. We walk every PA customer through what's currently available so nothing gets missed.
New Jersey homeowners served by PSE&G in Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties may qualify for PSE&G's make-ready incentive, which can range from $50 to $1,500 per charger toward wiring, permitting, and panel upgrade costs — depending on the project scope and eligibility. Note: PSE&G's separate off-peak charging credit program is being phased out. New applicants have not been accepted since January 13, 2026, and the program is scheduled to discontinue on or around June 1, 2026. This phase-out does not affect the make-ready incentive. We serve all three South Jersey counties and help eligible customers navigate the make-ready application process.
The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit (IRS Form 8911) currently covers 30% of qualifying home charger installation costs, up to $1,000 for residential properties. To be eligible, the installation must be placed in service by June 30, 2026, and the property must be located in a qualifying census tract as defined by the IRS. We recommend confirming eligibility with a tax professional before assuming you qualify. We provide a detailed itemized invoice designed to make the filing process straightforward.
